Training Residency
Train with Elaine & Stefan in Seattle with this unique offering! Training residencies are customized to the goals, level, and budget of each dancers.
Who is this for?
This program is designed for dancers who want to explore Lindy Hop and/or Solo Jazz on a deeper level through direct mentorship. Dancers of all levels and interests are welcome whether you’re working towards a specific goal, struggling to break through to the next level, or just want to deepen your relationship with the dance.
We can focus on many different aspects of the dance including but not limited to technique, artistry, social dance, competition, choreography, or teaching/organizing.
You can come as a partnership or as an individual dancer. Either way, you still get full attention from both Elaine & Stefan!
How does it work?
You will stay with Elaine & Stefan at their house in Ravenna, complete with an in-home dance studio. Jazztime is located just a ten minute walk away, so you can easily go between classes at the studio and home. You are welcome to cook in our kitchen.
The residency includes daily private lessons (1-2 hours a day guaranteed), access to all classes and events at Jazztime, access to home studio space, vintage clip watch parties, and rides to social dances in Seattle. Historically, you will also get a lot of excited Seattle dancers asking you to dance and hang out :)
The cost is $100/per day/per dancer, but we do offer sliding scale pricing as needed.
What will I learn?
What you learn is largely up to you. We will discuss your goals ahead of your residency so we can tailor the experience to your needs and learning style.
Naturally, you’ll be learning through the lens of how Elaine & Stefan approach the dance which favors the style of the original dancers over modern trends, prioritizes healthy biomechanics, and focuses on the dance as an art form above all.
how do i schedule?
Email us at info@jazztimeseattle.com to discuss scheduling. As busy dancers and organizers who like to travel, it’s easiest if we all get together to discuss dates on a call. We look forward to hearing from you!
Testimonials
Benn Todd, Kansas City:
Stefan and Elaine are some of the most knowledgeable and generous dancers I have encountered in my years of dancing. Not only did I get critical and personalized feedback on my dancing, but I even got nuanced perspectives when it comes to connecting to this dance and community as a whole (which I value a lot as an organizer).
If I gave a piece of advice to anyone who's about to attend the residency, it would be to ask all of your questions, even (or especially) the ones you're afraid to say out loud. Stefan and Elaine's instruction and experience guided me through discomfort (and in turn, growth) that made me fall deeper in love with this dance.
Cheryl Danner, Boston:
This training residency was the best thing I did last summer. Sometimes I come away from classes or private lessons feeling confused, but I left that week with a lot of material that I felt I understood and could work on.
Having easy access to studio space felt luxurious. And Stefan and Elaine were so generous with their time. Patrick and I swapped stories with them about our scene back home and joined some social events with local dancers. Also, social dancing in Seattle was amazing!
