Getting Started

To join Lindy 3–5, schedule a level check so we can place you in the class that best fits your current skills. If you're joining for the other membership benefits, you can purchase your membership right away, no level check required.

Memberships are billed on the first of each month. If you choose to cancel, your membership simply won’t renew the following month, and you’ll continue to enjoy all benefits through the end of your current paid month.

Lindy 3-5

Lindy 3–5 is a structured, long-term learning experience rather than a repeating 4-Week Series.

Classes are organized into focused learning modules that typically run 4–8 weeks. Each module is shaped by where dancers are in their learning journey as well as the needs and interests of the group. Moving beyond a fixed 4-week cycle gives us the time and flexibility to go deeper into partner dance technique, musicality, and personal expression.

Instructors guide your progress over time, taking an active role in your development based on your goals and interests. This creates a fun, collaborative environment where students also help shape the direction of the class.

As dancers progress, many return to lower-level classes to practice both roles and support newer students, creating a culture where dancers at every level contribute to each other's growth.

Progression

Each level explores many of the same concepts with increasing tempo, complexity, and expectations. Most dancers spend about a year in each level, though everyone progresses at their own pace. Attendance, practice, and social dancing all play a role, and members may request a level check at any time if they feel ready to move up.

Placement Guidelines

To join a Lindy 3–5 class, dancers should be comfortable dancing core Lindy Hop and Charleston vocabulary within the following tempo ranges while demonstrating good timing, connection, and quality of movement.

Lindy 3
Lindy Hop at 140 BPM
Charleston at 180 BPM

Lindy 4
Lindy Hop at 180 BPM
Charleston at 200 BPM

Lindy 5
Lindy Hop at 200 BPM
Charleston at 220 BPM

To sign up, schedule a level check so we can place you in the class that's the best fit for your current skills. If there are no times that work for you, email us at info@jazztimeseattle.com and we’ll find another time to meet with you.

Level Check

One of our instructors will assess your current dance experience, technique, and comfort level through a short conversation and a few simple exercises. There is no need to prepare anything in advance, and this is not a pass-or-fail test.

The level check typically takes approximately 15–20 minutes. Please wear comfortable clothing and appropriate dance shoes if you have them.

Our goal is to ensure that you join a class that matches your skills and experience, allowing you to feel confident, challenged, and supported from your very first lesson.
