FAQ

  • There is plenty of free street parking in the surrounding residential neighborhood, so you won't have to walk far. The area is safe and well-traveled. If you're biking, there is a bike rack across the street at the elementary school.

  • We rent our space and are not affiliated with the church or any religion.

    Jazztime welcomes people of all genders, gender identities, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, religions, ages, and backgrounds. Everyone is encouraged to participate, and discrimination or bigotry of any kind is not tolerated.

  • You do not need a partner for any classes or events at Jazztime. We rotate partners frequently in class, which helps dancers make friends and improve their social dancing.

    At our Tuesday Community Night and Thursday Night Swing Dance, it's common to dance with many different people throughout the night. It’s normal and encouraged to come by yourself!

  • For beginners, we recommend lightweight, non-marking shoes without heavy tread. Keds and Toms are classic choices. If you catch the dance bug, ask one of our instructors about specialty dance shoes.

    For experienced dancers, please note that our floor is quite fast and not sprung. You may want to adjust your footwear accordingly.

    Wear anything you're comfortable moving and sweating in. If you're wearing a skirt or dress, we recommend bike shorts underneath to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions while spinning.

  • Yes! The majority of our dancers dance both roles.

    When registering for classes, you'll be asked to select either lead or follow to help us balance the class. If you plan to dance both roles, feel free to choose either one.

    Once you’re in class, you're welcome to switch roles at any time. If you're unsure how to navigate role switching during rotations, just ask your instructor.

    At our events, we recommend asking your partner which role they'd like to dance.

  • Café Blameless is a coffee shop opening inside Illume, the space we’re both renting. We're excited to partner with them to offer drinks and snacks at our events, and we're thrilled to share a commitment to inclusivity, community, and creating a welcoming third space.

  • All of our restrooms are single-stall, gender-neutral restrooms.
